In the space of about 6 breaths, I made someone noticeably happier. Right after that I returned my gaze to *this* and it felt like the universe was using it to say, ‘thank you’. And it kept feeling that way for another 10 minutes. Well, you’re welcome, universe.

Ruidoso, Ruidoso, Ruidoso, Ruidoso, Ruidoso, Ruidoso…

I just found out that I was wrong about something for about 15 years. (It’s a really weird sensation for someone who’s never been wrong, ever. Some of you know what I’m saying…) Anyway, somehow I got it in my head that I had visited R i u d o s o, NM about that long ago. AND that it definitely wasn’t  R u i d o s o, which is how everyone else pronounced it. I’m no stranger to holding unconventional beliefs, so second guessing myself didn’t happen. I held that belief quietly, sadly, accepting graciously that everyone else was wrong. I may have tried to correct a couple wayward souls along the way but that was a pointless waste of energy and people just would not listen. The mispronunciation was firmly ingrained in our local lexicon.

I looked it up today. Wrong, sir. Wrong!!

I would love to be taken back in time, Ebeneezer Scrooge-Style, to watch myself make this error in various situations, and see how different friends and strangers reacted - and know they were probably laughing at me. I can sound very articulate at times when I’m spouting off about some experience I’ve had or a thing I’ve read. I enjoy challenging myself and others with words, phrases, ideas. I think if I could see myself mispronounce ‘Ruidoso’ over the years in a rapid-fire playback with this kind of quasi-affectation, I would shit myself with laughter.

So, the moral of the story is - I’m soooo glad I can get back to being 100% right again. Sorry, Ruidoso!!
